Why solar

Generate more of your own electricity

Solar panels convert daylight into DC electricity, which an inverter converts to AC for your home or business. What you use directly replaces electricity you would otherwise buy; what you don't use is stored in a battery or exported to the grid.

A typical Bristol home generates around 3,500–4,500 kWh a year from a 4 kWp system. How much of that you keep depends on your usage pattern and whether you add storage.

Core benefits

What solar does for your bills

  • Buy less from the grid
Every unit you generate and use yourself is a unit you don't purchase at retail rates.
  • Use your solar directly
Daytime appliances, hot water and EV charging run on your own generation first.
  • Earn from what you export
Surplus generation can be sold back under an eligible Smart Export Guarantee tariff.
  • Pair solar with storage
A battery shifts daytime generation into the evening, raising self-consumption.
  • Long-term cost protection
A 25-year asset that reduces exposure to future electricity price rises.

Reviews

What our solar customers say

Feedback from homeowners who chose solar PV and solar-and-battery systems.

★★★★★

Tom and the team fitted our solar and battery system in two days. Tidy work, everything explained clearly, and our evening grid usage has dropped to almost nothing.

Sarah H. — Bristol
★★★★★

Genuinely the most professional installers we've had at the house. The DNO paperwork was all handled for us and the system was live the same week.

Mark T. — Bath
★★★★★

Great communication from quote to commissioning, no hidden extras, and they left the loft cleaner than they found it.

James W. — Keynsham

FAQ

Solar panel questions, answered

How much do solar panels cost?

Cost depends on system size, roof type, access and whether battery storage is included. Most domestic solar PV installations sit within a broad range rather than a single price, so we provide a fixed written quote after a free property survey.

How many solar panels will I need?

It depends on your electricity usage and how much usable roof space you have. As a guide, a typical home system uses around 8–16 panels. Our survey confirms the right number for your property.

Do solar panels work during winter?

Yes. Panels generate from daylight, not heat, so they produce electricity year-round — output is simply lower in winter than in summer.

Can solar panels be installed with battery storage?

Yes. We install solar and battery storage together, or fit a battery to an existing array. Storage lets you use more of your own generation in the evening instead of buying from the grid.

What happens to electricity I don't use?

Unused electricity is either stored in a battery or exported to the grid. With an eligible Smart Export Guarantee tariff, your supplier pays for exported units — rates vary by supplier.

How long does a typical installation take?

Most domestic solar installations are completed in one to two days on site, with commissioning and handover the same week. Larger or more complex roofs can take longer.

Do I need planning permission?

Most domestic rooftop solar is permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and some flat-roof or ground-mount schemes can need consent. We confirm this at survey.
